Outline (in English)

【授業の概要 Course Outline】
The purpose of this class is to improve academic reading ability through the development of basic vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure analysis skills. Vocabulary development focuses on considering the context and structure to discern meaning, rather than strict translation between English and Japanese. Grammar and sentence structure instruction emphasizes the use and application of previous knowledge to read actual English. Using these skills, it aims to reinforce basic reading competence as well as rapidly and concisely summarize the gist of the content.

【到達目標 Learning Objectives】
By the end of this course, students will build required vocabulary and grammatical skills to read scientific journal articles. Students will also improve their reading speed and be able to understand the text more accurately.
