Outline (in English)

The class is a combined skills course integrating acquisition of and improving on all four skill areas of English: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The thematic, integrated curriculum provides the students with a balanced approach to learning English authentic literature, informational texts, vocabulary development, and systematic skill and grammar instruction.

By the end of the course, students will be able to 1) heighten their awareness of correct usage of English grammar in writing and speaking, 2) listen to and understand short conversations, 3) develop reading skills and reading speed, 4) expand their vocabulary through university texts, 5) develop abilities as critical thinkers and readers, and 6) give a group presentation.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Final grade will be decided based on class participation (10%), presentation project (30%), midterm and final exams (60%).
