Outline (in English)
This class reinforces the development of a rich vocabulary and accurate grammatical knowledge. As technicians or scientists, you will need the ability to comprehend and communicate in English. For the beginning, let's check up basic grammar of English, try to get accutomed to the expressions of everyday-English, and try to explain what you do or think of in English.

We aim to enhance comprehensive language ability in speaking listening and writing using fertile vocabulary and basic grammar. As the first step, we will try to get language skills by reading everyday topics, making interview and practicing conversation skit through pair/group. work

To read, write, speak and listen to everyday language using basic grammar.
To understand the topics of class materials and report the themes in English.

We will practice conversation skit, listening to sample conversation and reading articles on everyday topics. You will be given handouts for the class activities. You have to prepare for the classes checking vocabulary. You will make interviews and reports on given topics, You have to submit assignments for each class and assignment paper will be given back in the next class

To build up vocabulary, check the dictionary frequently and see not only the meaning of word but idioms and preposition/adverb used with the word.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
You will be assessed: Class activities and homework assignment 70%
Final Report 30%
You have to submit report or homework assignment for each class.
If you don't attend four or more classes, you will not get the credit.
When you will be late for the class 3 times, it will be counted as 1 absence.

毎回ペアワークでのインタビューを行いますが、より多くの情報を得るために、どんな質問を持ち出すとよいか考えてみましょう。一つの質問から派生的に出てくる質問(follow-up question)を数多く考えることで、表現もひろがっていくでしょう。
Writing課題で、Topic＋Supportの形を作り、十分な説明を付け加える練習が必要かと考えています。
