Outline (in English)

The purpose of this class is to develop the communicative competence necessary for effective participation in society and the world of work. The class aims to help students acquire a broad ability to communicate, starting from familiarity with daily conversation to explaining topics of students’ own interest or field of study, while deepening understanding of foreign cultures necessary for global citizens. Based on a firm foundation of basic skills, the class focuses on the future needs and interests of students as well as the ability to apply English to research and work in a setting of small, leveled classes for maximum effectiveness.

By the end of the course, students will feel more confident and comfortable discussing everyday topics in English. Students will also learn to use a range of natural communication strategies.

The development of pronunciation, listening and speaking skills will be a regular feature in this course. Students will also learn and use key vocabulary and conversation strategies in order to have more natural and fluent conversations.

Whole-class feedback (error correction related to grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation) will be given after each speaking activity or near the end of each class using the black board.

Individual students are also provided written feedback and error correction following the mid-term and final speaking examinations.
