Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
The purpose of this class is to develop the communicative competence necessary for effective participation in society and the world of work. The class aims to help students acquire a broad ability to communicate, starting from familiarity with daily conversation to explaining topics of students’ own interest or field of study, while deepening understanding of foreign cultures necessary for global citizens. Based on a firm foundation of basic skills, the class focuses on the future needs and interests of students as well as the ability to apply English to research and work in a setting of small, leveled classes for maximum effectiveness.

[Learning Objectives]
The goals of this course are [1] to listen to ordinary conversation, [2] to give their own opinion, and [3] to choose appropriate words or phrases properly depending on the situation.

[Learning Activities Outside of Classroom]
Students are expected to complete the required assignments before each class meeting.
Students are expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

[Grading Criteria/Policy]
Final grade will be calculated based on [1] pre-class assignments (70%), [2] in-class contribution (10%), and [3] final assignment (20%).
