Outline (in English)
The purpose of this class is to develop the communicative competence necessary for effective participation in society and the world of work. Let's try to accustomed to the expressions of everyday-English and try to explain what you do or think of in English. Our goal is to get good communication skills and to have better understanding of foreign culture.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
英語を実社会で使用して仕事をするために必要な英語のコミュニケーション力を養成することを目的とする。日常生活にかかわる会話に慣れ、身の回りのことを英語で説明する練習をする。幅広いコミュニケーション力の習得と、異文化に対する理解を深めることを目標とする。
This course is planned to build communication ability required in society when you start to work after graduation. We practice in order to get wide variety of explanation and communication ability and understanding of different cultures.
到達目標Goal
日常的に使用する基礎語彙を使い、基礎的な文法に沿って平明な説明を口頭でできる。対話を深め、より多くの情報を取得するために、多面的な質問を多く発することができるようにする。
毎回の課題に沿って、グループディスカッションや個別のプレゼンテーションを行う。
To make clear explanation using everyday language and basic grammar.

To make group discussion and presentation assignments given in the class.

配布プリントのスキットを参考に語彙を増やし、表現練習をする。プリントを配布し、ペア・ワークやグループ・ワークで、トピックに関するインタビュー＆レポートを作成したり、ロールプレイをする。
You will be given handouts of conversation skits or sample writings and practice in pair or group, making interview and report, doing roll playing.

かんたんなice-breaking gameとインタヴューを通じて、グループ内またはペアワークのパートナーを描写してみよう。

4人程度のグループに分かれ、配布プリントの役割指定にしたがって、会話スキットを作成し、演じてもらいます

日常会話のスキットを使って、日本の慣習を説明してみましょう。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
本受業の準備・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。
会話スキットのプリントやボキャブラリーシートを配布するので、発音・語彙をチェックしてください。グループ指定してインタヴューや会話スキットの作成をしますので、事前にどんな表現ができるか、考えてみましょう。より多くの情報を盛り込むために、自分でFurther Questionsを設定し、それに答えるなどのステップを踏んで、十分な説明を行う練習をしましょう。
Please prepare for and review class activities for 2 hours for each class. Check the handouts and see the vocabulary and grammar, then think what expressions are available in order to make yourself understood.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Interview sessionのレポート20％、授業時の発表（レポート、スピーチ）およびボキャブラリークイズなどの提出物80％として評価する。4回以上欠席した場合、評価の対象としない。遅刻も回数に応じて減点されるので、注意のこと。スピーチやグループワークでのインタヴューなど平常点の評価割合が大きいので、欠席しないようにしてください。

授業時は必ず辞書を携行してください。
ペアワークやグループワークの際、相手から情報を引き出すために、どんどんfollow-up question を考えて、使ってみましょう。とにかく口に出してみる、そして修正する、という練習の繰り返しです。
Please carry dictionary for class activities. Try to make more questions and follow-up questions to get more information from your classmates. We will make try and error, try and error, try and error..... as we do like that, we can build the foundation of language ability.
