In addition, it aims to instill confidence in students to access content in English by developing viewing skills to process media in English, and to install confidence in students to express their opinions and ideas in English verbally by instilling fundamental presentation skills.

Students will be able to communicate and elicit information in a range of social and academic interactions. Students will acquire an awareness of basic techniques to facilitate communication cross-culturally. Students will acquire basic presentation techniques.

Each unit of the textbook is themed, structures and vocabulary collocated with the theme is presented in a listening, then used as a basis for guided practice in group and pair work. Critical academic skills are introduced with a short reading and a short video based on the theme (which may be done outside the class). A discrete basic presentation skill is the introduced and a short discussion in groups enables students to practice the language and communication skills together, and for the teacher to give encouragement and feedback.
