Outline (in English)

The aim of public health is health promotion and disease prevention by fully developing the physical and mental abilities of people to protect them from diseases. This is sociology developed from medicine. Health, medical care, and welfare are the three pillars of public health. Practical activities of public health require continuous education and organizational community efforts. In this lecture, students will have the opportunity to learn important knowledge on public health to live a healthy life.
Learning Objectives
In this course, students will learn the process of using epidemiology, health statistical methods, and sociological methods to investigate and raise issues, as well as to take further action. This will enable students to evaluate and discard health information that they come into contact with in their daily lives, and to take appropriate health actions.
In addition, students will learn about the current state of medical care in Japan and consider appropriate treatment behavior as a patient. Students will also learn about bioethical issues and consider how to live and how to die.
Learning activities outside of classroom
Review after the lecture. Students are expected to read newspapers with an awareness of related topics. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Policy
Evaluation will be based on the report to be submitted at the end of the term (100%).
