Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
Japan is well-known for the best longevity in the world. However, as oppose to the reputation from the world, it is unfortunate that there are not many Japanese people who can actively enjoy till their end-stage of life. It has been known that the healthy life can be obtained by quality life activities such as moderate exercise or physical activity, quality sleep and rest, and well-balanced diet. This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent from illness and acquire such a healthy life. Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to learn and enjoy such a lifestyle.
【Learning Objectives】
Students will be able to understand the relationship between the environment and health in order to build a sustainable environmental society.
To be able to explain the relationship between homeostasis and disease.
To be able to explain the factors related to cancer in humans.
To be able to explain the healing process.
To be able to explain the function and role of immunity.
To be able to explain the foods that promote healing.
To be able to explain the role of the mind in healing.
To be able to describe one's own sense of well-being.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Resume for the lecture will be uploaded through the learning support system. Students are expected to prepare according to the resume.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
The overall evaluation will be based on the following distribution.
 1) Assignments to be done in each class (reaction papers, short quizzes, reports, etc.): 80%.
 2) Participation in class activities (not attendance): 20%.
If you are absent or submit assignments after the due date, your evaluation will be affected.
If attendance is less than 2/3 of the class, the grade will be “D” or “E“.
This grading method is a general rule, and students who have difficulty with regular activities will be dealt with and evaluated on an individual basis.
