Outline (in English)

"Environmental Anthropology II" is an introductory course to learn environmental anthropology and related discussions on human-environment relations.
Outline and objectives of the course
In Environmental Anthropology II, students will learn about the diverse relationships between humans and the environment based on various cultural backgrounds, referring to ethnographies and theories by anthropologists who have explored the relationship between humans and nature. We will also discuss environmental issues in our daily lives using an environmental anthropological approach, and deepen our understanding of the importance of understanding cultural aspects.

【Goal】
This lecture aims to deepen students' knowledge of the relationship between humans and the environment and their global perspectives, as well as to develop their critical thinking skills by reconsidering familiar environmental issues using a socio-cultural anthropological approach.

【Work to be done outside of class (preparation, review, homework, etc.)】
Students are expected to prepare for and review the material presented in each lecture.
(Preparatory study) Detailed lesson plans will be distributed at the first class, so please refer to them each week and read the literature used in each lecture before the class.
(Review) Questions for the midterm and final exam will be based on the literature used in the lectures and the lecture content. Students are encouraged to take notes during the lecture and to review the literature and lecture notes after the lecture. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

【Grading method and criteria】
Students will be required to submit a reaction paper during the lecture (30%) and take a written exam at the mid-term and final (70%).
