Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course provides an understanding of the current situation and issues facing foreign residents in Japan, particularly from the perspectives of policy, education, and labor. The purpose of this course is to deepen the understanding of transnational migration and settlement, a major theme in international sociology.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
A. To understand the reality of the movement and lifestyle of foreign residents from a comprehensive perspective.
B. To understand the transnational phenomena occurring globally.
C. To discuss transnational phenomena.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to prepare and review the materials distributed in each lecture.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided based on term-end examination (70%) and reaction papers for each class (30%).
