Outline (in English)

With the advent of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement, there is a need to transition from an economy dependent on fossil fuels to a decarbonized economy.
Corporations have been positioned as important partners in achieving the SDGs, and the role they should play is expanding more than ever.
In this lecture, I will explain how corporate management should be in the 21st century, taking into account the changes in the external environment: the end of the era of mass production and mass consumption, the worsening of climate change, and the shift to a sustainable society.
This class aims to provide students with basic knowledge of international policy trends in sustainability and the ability to understand sustainability management in Japanese companies.
Students are required to learn about corporate efforts toward the SDGs and the Paris Agreement on their own by referring to integrated reports and sustainability reports issued by companies.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading will be based on the special lecture report (15%) and the final report (85%).
