Outline (in English)

In this class , from the viewpoint of public policy studies, we will examine the various themes about the environmental policy of local government, such as preservation of the natural environment in urban space, control of “Heat island”, sewer policy, city park policy. Furthermore, in order to consider the future of the community, we will explore the history of local environmental policy from after the Second World War to the present age. The topic to take up will be pollution regulatory, waste administration, control of urban development, local scene preservation policy, urban design, etc. The purpose of this class is for students to learn about the basic knowledge of regional environmental policy and the method of policy thinking.

The goals of this course are to acquire knowledge about regional environmental policy of local government, and to gain the ability of think about regional policy issues.  

Students need to prepare and review each session by using distributed materials and other references, and to work on short writing assignments. Preparatory and review time for this class are 2 hours each.

Your overall grade in this class will be decided based on the following:
Term-end examination:85%,Active class participation:5%,Sort reports:10%
