Outline (in English)

The first half of this course aims to provide a “how to” of organizational ethnographic research and, in the process, examine the epistemology, conduct, and power relations of fieldwork. Organizational ethnography is useful in a wide range of settings for research questions that seek to explore the meanings to situational actors of particular practices, concepts or processes.

In the second half of the class, students will learn how to address a variety of issues and problems that are pertinent to one's career in the industrial/educational organizations and local communities on research studies. In particular, we focus attention on theories and methods of program evaluation (PE). PE is a systematic approach that helps researchers/practitioners to identify critical issues and structures for understanding and improving programs. Special attentions will be placed on learning how one can measure processes and effectiveness of the programs that are of interest to each student.
