Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course introduces feminist works in International Relations (IR) and explores global issues with gender perspective. After a review of integration of gender analysis into IR theory, this course examines specific current global topics including (national) security, war and sexual violence, globalization, migration, and environmental issues etc.

【Learning Objectives】
・Understand the basics of feminist approach to IR
・Acquire feminist perspective on international politics and social trends
・Develop ability to think about more just global society with gender perspective

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Preparation - Students are encouraged to keep abreast of international politics and society through the international pages of domestic newspaper. It is also useful to check the international media.
Review - Students are encouraged to look up terms they didn't understand in class and to refer to the literature introduced in class to deepen their understanding.
Others - Instructions will be given as appropriate.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
30% - Short reports for each session
70% - Final examination
※In this class, only the final examination will be conducted face-to-face. However, the examination may be changed to an online format depending on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
