Outline (in English)

How can we understand information around the world and make use of it for our study or business? The most important process for that is to acquire ability to read foreign documents correctly and efficiently. In this lecture, we will pick up an English passage to read each week, and learn how to research or analyze information in foreign language. In addition, we will introduce audio materials in order to improve our listening skill and be used to thinking, understanding or learning through spoken English.


By the end of this course, students are expected to do followings:

-Collecting information in the world effectively through reading and listening to English passages.

-Keeping themselves sensitive to international matters so as to draw their career and social life.

-Achieve a numeric target set by themselves concerning their reading speed, TOEIC score, etc.


Before/ after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content.
Material for each session will be distributed in advance. Students should look it through and consider how to translate its English passages into Japanese.


Term-end examination: 50%, in-class contribution: 50%

Reaction paper will be regarded as important.
