In this course, students learn qualitative methodologies for investigating cognition and action in the real world, not in the laboratory. In particular, we focus on the interview method. The goal of this course is to obtain basic knowledge of qualitative approaches in psychology. Students conduct field research, interview informants, transcribe interview data, analyze transcripts, and report research outcomes. The goals of this course are to acquire basic knowledge of interviewing, to develop basic skills in analyzing qualitative data, and to understand the process of qualitative research.
