Students are recommended to attend this class who have understood so-called high school chemistry and want to study chemistry more academically.
Goal:
By the end of this course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) Describe energy level diagram of molecular orbital for homo-nuclear diatomic molecule. Based on this, explain its stability and magnetic property.
(2) Explain mechanism of hybrid orbital.
(3) Outline mechanism of color development
(4) Calculate concentration and amount using equilibrium constant.
(5) Analyze first-order reaction. Calculate activation energy.
Work to be done outside of class:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading criteria:
Total score of exercise(20 points),quiz(30 points), and final exam(50 points) should be more than 60 points out of the 100 points to pass.
