Outline (in English)
This course teaches the foundations of chemistry and scientific way of thinking which university students should acquire
Students are recommended to attend this class who have understood so-called high school chemistry and want to study chemistry more academically.
Goal:
By the end of this course，students should be able to do the followings:
(1) Describe energy level diagram of molecular orbital for homo-nuclear diatomic molecule. Based on this，explain its stability and magnetic property.
(2) Explain mechanism of hybrid orbital.
(3) Outline mechanism of color development
(4) Calculate concentration and amount using equilibrium constant.
(5) Analyze first-order reaction. Calculate activation energy.
Work to be done outside of class:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading criteria:
Total score of exercise(20 points)，quiz(30 points), and final exam(50 points) should be more than 60 points out of the 100 points to pass.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
本講義は、前期「化学基礎Ⅰ」で基礎を習得またはそれと同等レベルの学生を対象にする。前期に浅く学んだ範囲を学問的に踏み込み、その周辺も含めて大学化学の基礎理解を深める。
到達目標：
(1)基本的な等核二原子分子のエネルギー準位図を描き、その分子や分子イオンの磁性や安定を判断できる。
(2)混成軌道の仕組みを説明できる。
(3)発色の仕組みの概要を説明できる。
(4)平衡定数を使った物質の濃度、量の計算ができる。
(5)一次反応の速度解析ができる。また活性化エネルギーを求められる。
授業時間外の学習：
本授業の準備・復習等の授業時間外学習は、4時間を標準とする。予習には配布資料の穴埋めを活用し、復習には授業終了後に示される課題等に取り組むこと。
成績評価の方法と基準：
毎回行う演習20%、2回の小テスト30％、期末試験50%を合わせて100％として評価する。

【授業の進め方と方法】
毎回演習を行い、その点数の合計を20点満点に換算する。また、小テスト（課題形式を含む）を2回行い、その点数の合計を30点満点とし、期末試験を50点満点とする。演習20%、小テスト30％、期末試験50%を合わせて100％として評価する。
演習・小テストに対しては学習支援システムや授業時にフィードバックする。
