Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This lecture is designed for the students who don't fully understand or have failed to learn basic chemistry. The aim of this lecture is that the students have a knowledge and understanding of basic chemistry.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) Account for numerical values and units in chemistry.
(2) Account for basic concepts of amount of substance.
(3) Account for basic concepts as well as carry out calculations in stoichiometry.
(4) Account for electronic structure in atoms.
(5) Account for the theoretical background to the periodic table.
(6) Account for different types of chemical bonds.
(7) Account for atomic orbitals and molecular structures.
(8) Account for different types of intermolecular forces.
(9) Account for states of matters.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: in-class contribution (containing quizzes) (60%) and term-end examination (40%).
