Outline (in English)

Modern physics include mechanics, electromagnetics, statistical thermodynamics and quantum mechanics. Here, mechanics is classical fundamental physics (Newton’s law of motion), describing the motion of the object.
Motion in various objects relating to our daily lives such as automobiles and airplanes is governed by the classical dynamics. Therefore, in order to understand the motion of a real object, we must set up equations of motion and solve them. Here, using some typical examples, this learning process will be executed. Furthermore, introducing the concept of work and energy, a deep understanding of motion, which has a different viewpoint from the equations of motion, will be done. Regarding the mathematics necessary for the understandings of these concepts, the explanation will be done at all such times.
Here, the aim of this course is to help students acquire the followings: position・velocity・acceleration, equation of motion, resistive movement, oscillation motion, work and energy. The goals of this course are to acquire the above topics.
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the followings: term-end examination: 50 %, short examination: 15 %, reports on practical problems: 15 %, reports on advanced, practical problems: 20 %
