The aims and objectives of this course are to learn how to and
improve upon the following:
• Choosing a topic and being able to explain why you chose the
topic.
• Researching your topic and providing resources
• Explaining your notes from your research in English
• Brainstorming and speaking outline
• Identifying issues and questions for research
• Paraphrasing and summarizing information and ideas
• Understanding various examples of presentations and areas
of your topic of interest
• Making and re-organizing notes on information sources
• Making a presentation using posters, PPT, kamishibai, or
keynote
• Reading and responding to classmates’ presentations
到達目標Goal
The aim of this course is to improve students English
communication skills and ability to discuss, explain and write
about a wide range of topics in English and to build confidence
in both oral and written skills. There is also heavy emphasis
on listening skills as each weekly topic will be introduced with
an aural component.

Classes will be conducted using a wide range of activities, with
a concentration on vocabulary introduction, listening exercises
related to the topics, including note-taking and comprehension
questions, Students will participate in pair/group discussions
on the topics and present their ideas both orally and in writing.
Feedback will be given to students in the form of corrections
and comments on assignments and class activities.

Evaluation is what we do to decide a GRADE in each semester
Attendance: 10%
In class participation: 15%
Weekly activities: 10%
TOEIC Test Score: 10%
(1 presentation per semester) Presentations: 15%
Mid-term test - 20%
Final test - 20%

Students cannot get a credit unless they complete the
Academic Express assignments for the term.
In addition, you will also study and learn about presentation
techniques. And some time will be spent with pronunciation,
grammar and vocabulary.
