Topics covered will include topic sentences/introductory paragraphs, thesis statements, supporting sentences/paragraphs, and concluding sentences/paragraphs. Various types of writing will be examined, such as description, narration, comparison/contrast, cause and effect, and opinion writing

The course is designed to teach students the basics of English academic/technical writing. Topics covered will include topic sentences/introductory paragraphs, thesis statements, supporting sentences/paragraphs, and concluding sentences/paragraphs. Various types of writing will be examined, such as description, narration, comparison/contrast, cause and effect, and opinion writing
到達目標Goal
By the end of the course students should be able to recognize and produce topic sentences, thesis statements, supporting evidence, and concluding/summarizing paragraphs. As well as active class participation, students will be evaluated on short weekly writing assignments related to academic and technical topics introduced in the textbook and longer midterm and final writing assignments

A variety of teaching methods will be used, including lecture, reading and analyzing sample paragraphs and essays, and textbook exercises. Writing on topics presented in the textbook will be done both in and out of class. Students are expected to be active participants and will do pair and group work in class. Teacher feedback will be given in the form of individual and class comments and written assessment of assignments.

Attendance policy: Students are allowed 3 unexcused absences. Students with 4 or more unexcused absences will fail the course. Students who arrive within 30 minutes after the start of class will be marked late. After 30 minutes, students will be marked absent. 2 lates = 1 absence
