Outline (in English)
This course deals with English in a variety of formats. Possible formats include English movies, online vocabulary study, extensive reading, and YouTube. Students will improve their communicative English skills and apply their English knowledge both inside and outside of class. By the end of the course, students should be able to express themselves more confidently in English and be able to perform small presentations in English in front of their peers. Students will also be able to monitor their own learning using online study methods. Students will be expected to do the following outside of the classroom: 1. Prepare their own mini-presentations (YouTube and Movies);2. Study using online materials (Online Vocabulary and Extensive Reading); 3. Upload copies of all completed assignments to the Hoppii learner management system. Students will be continually assessed through their participant and completion of activities inside and outside class. The breakdown of the final grade will be YouTube Presentations 10%, Online Vocabulary Study 15%, Movies 30%, In-class discussions 30%, Extensive Reading 15%.

In this class, students will study English through a variety of materials (movies, online vocabulary, extensive reading, YouTube) and be expected to actively interact with their peers using English.

Students will be able to use a variety of materials to improve their English ability. Mainly, students will be expected to make presentations and interact with their peers in English.

The class is not a traditional lecture class and will require active participation from students every week. Students will be responsible for creating some of the materials and leading some activities in the class. The instructor will provide continual support.

For Extensive Reading the following Membership Card/Book will be required - Xreading VL: 1 year subscription -Digital Access Code for students-

This is the first year for the instructor to teach this course. However, the instructor is always available to take student concerns under consideration throughout the semester.

Students must bring either a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Please be sure the devices are fully charged before class and can connect to the internet easily.
その他の重要事項Others
Students cannot get a credit unless they complete the Academic Express assignments for the term. Students must also take the TOEIC-IP test held at Hosei during the term.
