Outline (in English)

This lecture aims to be familiar with the style of natural science through learning the Newton dynamics, which is the basics of modern natural science and mathematics.

"Scientific approach" is essential when we study the field of information science and its application. In this lecture, it is quite important to practice analytical methods and modeling. In other words, we can practically study the scientific way: Phenomena that seem to be complicated and difficult to understand are deconstructed into several much clear and comprehensive fundamental concepts. After we understand each of them, from the combination of those we create more complicated ideas and new concepts. Also, when we deal with complicated phenomena, we frequently use this scientific process. In each process, we focus on the essence and turn it into a physical model, which is easy to handle and to perform quantitative verification. As we frequently come across this process, it will be a very good practice to make software that deals with the real world.

Of course, the concepts of dynamics in this lecture (position, displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, mass, work, energy, momentum, angular velocity, angular momentum, torque, etc.), motion equations, are indispensable to handle the real world from an information science point of view. Another goal of this lecture is to use these concepts effectively.

Note that before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend more than four hours to understand the course content. Grading will be decided based on the Term-end examination (50%), and the grades for assignments of preparation and review, reports, quizzes, and in-class contribution (50%).
