Outline (in English)

Life is considered to be an integration of chemical reactions carried out by biological supramolecules, like proteins, nucleic acids and their complexes. In order to understand life essentially, it is quite important to analyze and comprehend the molecular functions of these biological supramolecules based on their structure at an atomic level. It is indispensable to master the ability to describe and consider how these biological reactions can be taken place inside these biological supramolecules. This course introduces the method of structural analysis of biological supramolecules and their structure and function relationship of them.At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to understand how structural information was analyzed, how to evaluate and utilize this information for applied studies like drug development. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. The final grade will be calculated according to the following process Tern-end essay (50%) and in-class contribution (including practical course (4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 14th classes )) (50%).
