Outline (in English)
Course outline:
This class aims at understanding basic software reliability theory. By reading the text book on software reliability engineering, the students will grasp how to assess the reliability of software product and its difficulties. Also they will see some perspectives for ideal software production.
Learning objectives:
Students will acquire an understanding of:
1) basic concepts of reliability engineering,
2) the importance of software reliability, and
3) how to evaluate software reliability by using several mathematical techniques.
Learning activities outside of the class room:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading criteria/Policy:
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Contribution to the class and goodness of presentation: 50%, In-class exercise and final report: 50%

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
学生はソフトウェアの品質・信頼性にかかわる諸問題を理解することができるようになる．また英語文献を通読する際、英和辞書がなくても大略の意図を掴むことができる能力が養成される．また、いくつかの統計的・数理解析技法が身につく．これらを目的とする。
到達目標Goal
以下を主な到達目標とする。学生が信頼性の諸量の定義を理解でき、その説明ができるようになること。輪読を通じて必要となる、統計・グラフ理論等、周辺の知識を確認し理解を深めること。辞書なしで英文邦訳をリアルタイムで行えるようになること。ソフトウェア信頼性の評価法、困難さについて説明ができるようになること。

学部レベルの数理統計学を修得済みのものを主な対象とする．そのため第一回の授業においてその基礎知識を問う試験を行う．
応用確率論が扱うひとつの領域として信頼性理論がある．本科目では特にソフトウェアの信頼性を評価するための数理モデルである，ソフトウェア信頼性モデルについて，その前提となる知識から始め，モデル化の実際について習得する．基本的に英語文献の輪講に多くの時間を割く．提出物については適時講評する。

【本授業の準備・復習時間は、各４時間を標準とします。】確率論・統計学の学部授業を習得した知識があることを想定して進める．それを確認するために特に初回は試験を行う．
テキスト（教科書）Textbooks
配布資料を用いる．その原典は、Hoang Pham, Software Reliability, Springer-Verlag Singapore (2000)である。
参考書References
授業内に適宜紹介する．
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
授業態度と発表を重視し（50%），さらに講義内での演習・レポート（50%）により評価する．
