Outline (in English)
（Course outline）
Atomic and molecular physics on the basis of quantum mechanics. The lectures will cover fundamental and application of spectroscopy, which is effective to study the properties of atoms and molecules. Applications to the other field such as nuclear physics, materials science, and topics of recent research are also discussed.
（Learning Objectives）
The goal of this course is to learn energy levels of atoms and molecules based on quantum mechanics and laser spectroscopic methods for precision measurement of atoms and molecules.
（Learning activities outside of classroom）
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
（Grading Criteria /Policy）
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
Mid-term and term-end reports: 90%, in class contribution: 10%

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
学部で学んだ量子力学の発展として、物質の基礎である原子、分子の量子力学による取扱いを学習する。原子、分子の性質を調べるための有効な手段である分光学の基礎から応用までを学ぶ。原子核や物質科学など他分野への応用、最近の研究についても学習することで、物質の根源およびそのアプローチについて学ぶ。
到達目標Goal
量子力学を実際の原子、分子の系に適用して得られるエネルギー準位やスペクトルについて学ぶ。このための手段としての分光学、特にレーザー分光学について基礎から応用まで学習する。最近の著しい発展であるレーザー冷却や原子核物理への応用についても学ぶ。
