Outline (in English)

(Course outline) Ion beam technology is a very useful technology such as impurity doping, reforming, creation of new materials and evaluation of material properties. In this lecture, students learn the basic process for the purpose of understanding the interaction between ion beam and solid. It also aims to enhance programming skills through creation of simulation program of ion beam analysis.
(Learning Objectives) At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to explain the basic interactions of ion beams with solids, to explain depth profile analysis using ion beams, and to create a simple simulation program using a graphical-user-interface.
(Learning activities outside of classroom) Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text. Your required study time is at least three hours for each class meeting.
(Grading Criteria /Policy) Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
give a presentation on the content of the text: 20%, mid-term short examination: 20%, completeness of the simulation program for ion scattering analysis: 20%, in class contribution: 40%.
