Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this lesson, we will decide the specification of the aircraft from the basic design elements of the aircraft's aerodynamic design, structural design, and system design about the concept of optimum design for finding the specification of the aircraft satisfying the required flight performance of the aircraft.

【Learning Objectives】
In this class, using a simple small airplane as an example, each student will systematically carry out numerical design of the airframe specifications to satisfy the required flight performance in a step-by-step manner as the class progresses, in order to understand the concept of airplane design methods.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 4 hours each. In this class, in order to carry out this class theme in a short period of time, each student will carry out numerical design outside the class in order to obtain airframe specifications that satisfy the required performance. It is important for each student to do this work between the lecture and the next lecture, and to research various data on existing airplanes using reference books, the Internet, etc. before the lecture.
It is very important that each student actively researches data on airplanes and learns about airplane structures, engine structures, propellers, etc. in advance in order to understand this class.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Each student is required to make a numerical design that satisfies the performance requirements, obtain the flight performance specifications, and make a three-view drawing of the aircraft to prepare the aircraft specifications. The submission of this specification will be the final exam. The evaluation of this specification will be 60%.
During this period, quizzes (30 minutes) will be given twice, and the level of participation in the class will be evaluated comprehensively. This evaluation will be 40%.
