Outline (in English)

授業概要(Course outline)
The course deals with two subjects. One deals with thermodynamic cycles strongly related to turbomachinery such as Brayton cycle (gas turbine cycle). The other deals with loss mechanism in turbomachinery from the point of view of fluid dynamics. Loss means here that the flow phenomena which generate entropy and deteriorate the efficiency of turbomachinery.
到達目標(Learning Objectives)
The goals of this course are to reconfirm basics of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics through learning thermodynamic cycles and the loss mechanism in turbomachinery.
授業時間外の学習(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend at least 2 hours to understand the course content.
成績評価の方法と基準(Grading Criteria/Policies)
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on term-end examination (70%) and in-class contribution (30%). However, when the face-to-face class is impossible, your overall grade will be decided based on a report which simulates ta term-end examination.
