Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This course introduce the applications of concepts and principle about combustion theory and their evaluation of internal combustion engine and gas turbine in heat engineering.

(learning objectives)
The specific objectives of this integrated subjects are to
1)be able to explain the application concepts of combustion such as chemical kinetics, conservation equations for multicomponent reaction systems, detonation, premixed laminar flames, gases diffusion flames and combustion of a single liquid fuel droplet.
2)be able to understand and explain the combustion characteristics of pre-mixed flames, diffusion flame and solid combustion(flame propagation, ignition and flame stabilization, combustion of droplets and sprays and combustion of coal)

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.

(Grading criteria/Policies)
Your final grade will be decided according to the following process:
・The ratio of class attendance over 70%(over 10/14) will be decided the final grade
・Usual performance score 60%, term-end examination 40%
To pass, students must earn at least 60 points out of 100.
