Outline (in English)

【COURSE OUTLINE】
The goal of this course is understanding of multiscale failure mechanism of solids, and application of the mechanism to explain failure behavior of solids, such as metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, and hybrid material systems.
【LEARNING OBJECTS】
At the end of the course, students are expected to achieve the objects of the class and to acquire preliminary understanding and knowledge of strength and fracture of materials.
【LEARNING ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF CLASSROOM】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content.
【GRADING CRITERIA/POLICY】
The total score of 60 or more out of 100 is considered acceptable. The grading will be decided based on reports, and presentations/discussions in the class.
