Outline (in English)
Discussions on the relationship between cities and culture will be conducted interdisciplinaryly, but basically we will emphasize aging approaches. The theme of this lesson is the consideration of various aspects of culture that transforms as the city expands. I expect students to acquire a wide range of knowledge to learn urban culture.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
都市と文化の関わりについての議論を学際的に行っていくが、基本的に経年的なアプローチを重視していく。都市の拡大とともに変容していく文化の諸相の考察が本授業のテーマになる。学生には都市文化を学んでいくための幅広い知識の習得を期待している。
到達目標Goal
都市論の様々な議論を前提にした文化創出の政策的な手法、方法を理解することを到達目標としたい。とくに都市政策の面においても文化の活用は重要になってきているので、学生は具体的な事例を知識として習得することが必要で、それを自分なりに多角的に考察する姿勢を身につけて欲しい。

都市政策を考える上で、都市が内包する文化を把握することが極めて重要である。特にコミュニティ形成や新たな産業創出の上でも比重が高まってきているといえるだろう。本授業では1960年代以降に日本で盛んになってきた都市論全般を見ていくことから始めていくが、特に文化との関係性の強いものを中心に取り上げていく。文化面が強調されていくのは1980年以降になるが、前田愛、吉見俊哉などのいわゆるテクスト分析型の都市論、そして1990年代以降のカルチュラルスタディーズ、文化社会学領域での都市論までを概観していく。また都市文化を象徴する都市装置（劇場、映画館、カフェなど）にも着目、都市文化の生成に果たした役割も見ていきたい。ポップカルチャーもひとつの都市の文化として扱っていく。
