Outline (in English)

This class provides student how to program in Java language. Students are not expected any programming background, even though they are expected the minimum knowledge of computers. In the spring semester, student lean the grammar of Java language as well as the basic structure of computer programs. By using a basic data structure, namely array, the student can perform some statistics operations through Java programming language. After completion of this class, the students can be members of software development projects, and perform statistics operations.
【Learning Objectives】
Students are able to understand the features of Java language, and compose them into relatively complex Java programs. Also they can understand and explain what object-oriented programming is, and build basic object-oriented programs. They are expected to solve basic statistic problems.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Review must be done by each student. An IDE called Eclipse is employed and that is free. Students are expected to install this software in each PC and to practice in their spare time. Approximately one hour for preparation and another one hour for review are required.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
Mainly by the assignments. All the assignments must be hand in. Class participation is required but not strictly checked. Understanding of how to program in Java is each student’s responsibility. Nonattendance cannot be excuse in any respects.
