Outline (in English)

Our seminer will learn business succession and innovation in small and medium companies (Japanese family business). We can learn how to make research question and research method through reading some book chapters and articles in thew field of strategies organisation, corporate governance and entrepreneurship.

The goal of our seminar is to be aware of problems related to corporate management, to search for research targets by yourself while borrowing the wisdom and knowledge of previous research, and to learn how to actually investigate management phenomena and how to formulate logic. .. Through collaborative activities (group work) with seminar members, you will learn how to ask questions, how to raise and proceed with discussions, and how to draw conclusions.

About the progress of the seminar...
In the spring semester, we will subscribe to literature centered on textbooks and set research themes (research questions) based on individual research interests. Specifically, by subscribing to the literature, we classify themes in actual corporate management and find research themes (research perspectives). For each group's research interests, we will search for various previous studies and learn what the implications are and what, on the contrary, are not clarified.
In the autumn semester, the core of the exercise activities is to proceed with group research systematically and logically. Specifically, we will learn research methods (field research and literature research methodologies) according to each research theme, determine the research target, and conduct an actual research. Furthermore, the research results will be reported in a seminar and summarised as a dissertation.

Regarding homework, it is necessary to read the relevant part of the specified text (textbook) each time, prepare your own opinion, and attend the seminar. The standard preparatory study and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
