Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
In this course, students will be introduced to the major issues and themes in the history of American journalism from the pre-Revolutionary War period up to the present. The lecture will be given in Japanese.
(Learning Objectives)
The main objectives of the course are:
a. to help students learn core historical knowledge about American journalism.
b. to help students understand American journalism in a broader historical context.
c. to help students understand the relationships between Japanese and American journalism.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to have completed the recommended reading after each class meeting. Their study time will be more than four hours for a meeting.
(Grading Criteria)
Grading will be decided by the results of the final examination (100%).
