Outline (in English)

The aim of this seminar is to help students to analyze the meaning of the representations of place and landscape and to investigate the potentials of culture and representation.
By the end of the course, students schould be able to do the followings:
- understand the various issues to approach "place" and "landscape."
- consider the main points of academic text.
- learn the method of representation analysis through practice.
- develop a research question, conduct research, and write a thesis.
Students will be expected to prepare a handout for the presentation, read the texts before the class meeting, carry out the research project, and write the year-end thesis. Yout required study time ist two hours for each class meeting.
Grading will be decided based on the followings: presentation and discussion (50 %), year-end thesis (50 %).
