Outline (in English)

We explore various social phenomena sociologically from the viewpoint of the social system and human life. The goals of this course are to set an good research question, to select adequate methods, to collect and analyze relevant literatures, materials and data, to construct a good argumentation, and to explain the process and conclusion of research in an oral presentation and an article. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to carry their research forward. Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following. Presentation in the class: 30%, term-end article: 50%, in class contribution: 20%.
