Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this course, we aim to acquire basic knowledge about the religion of Islam so that each student can understand the various ways of the Islamic world without being confused by existing prejudices.

【Learning Objectives】
Students are expected to acquire a basic knowledge of the religion of Islam and, based on that knowledge, to understand the religion of Islam and the diversity of Muslims. By the end of course, students are expected to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to think independently about the complex issues related to the Islamic world today from a broad and unbiased perspective.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The key words related to the next class will be presented in class, so researching and deepening your understanding of them will serve as preparation. Reviewing and re-examining each paper will also serve as a review. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Written exam at the end of the semester (60%), paper to be submitted in each class (40%)
Students are allowed to look at the materials in the exam.
The evaluation will be based on whether the students are able to express their personal opinions logically using the knowledge learned in the class.
