Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course (Information Processing Techniques I, II) aims to acquire knowledge of information processing techniques for psychology reports and graduation theses. In the spring semester (Information Processing Techniques I), students will learn how to use Microsoft (R) Office Word, Excel and Power Point. Techniques to be instructed are, for example, page setting, drawing and tabulation methods required by The JPA (Japanese Psychological Association) Publication Manual.

【Learning Objectives】
In this course, students are expected to be able to utilize Microsoft Office appropriately in writing reports and theses in psychology, and in conducting experiments and surveys. In addition, students should be able to deal with problems that may occur during these tasks.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to review the assignments they have worked on during class time. In addition, there will be opportunities to use content already learned in other courses, so students may be asked to review the content of the courses they have taken once again as preparation for those courses. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
In-class activities (10%): Determined by active participation in class and feedback at the end of class. If you attend the class without being late and write more than the specified number of words, you will receive full marks for that class. You will be asked to submit your impressions as an attachment to the following "In-class assignment".

In-class assignments (40%): These are due during each class, or by the specified time if they cannot be completed during the class. The type of assignment will be announced in each class. Even if you do not attend the class, you will be allowed to submit your work. In addition, you will be asked to submit your comments on the "In-class activities" described above in the form of an attachment to this assignment.

Final assignment (50%): This assignment will be given in two parts. The assignment will be to synthesize what you have learned in this course, "Information Processing Techniques I". Detailed information will be provided at least one month prior to submission.
