Outline (in English)

Outline: This course introduces students to cognitive science, an interdisciplinary field that studies how the mind works, that is, the mental processes that enable people to engage in everyday activities such as seeing, hearing, using language, remembering, thinking, and interacting with others.

Learning objectives: Students are expected to be able to (i) master the history of cognitive science, (ii) be familiar with basic architecture of the mind, and (iii) explain the main points in relation to their own experience in everyday life.

Learning activities outside of classroom: Students are expected to spend 2 hours of reading and reviewing class materials every week.

Grading criteria: Overall grade will be decided based on the following --- class participation 30%, midterm 20%, and final 50%. Students must not be absent from class more than 4 times without proper reasons. Students must take the final exam to get the credit of this course.
