Outline (in English)
The class will enable students to communicate in an English speaking environment. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy and fluency in the spoken word, but listening, reading and some writing will also form part of the course.
Preparation of short presentations and speeches to be made in class.
Grades will be based on participation in class, including reading and discussions (30%), and presentations (70%). Course credits will not be given where a student is absent three or more times in a semester without submitting a reason.

The objective is to improve speaking skills in English.
到達目標Goal
Students will gain skills and confidence in expressing their opinions. The topics covered will be diverse, covering news and current events in addition to more academic themes. Evaluation and grading will be based on communication abilities, emphasising the spoken word.

Each week, students will be required to speak briefly on a selected topic. The textbook will help students develop basic conversational skills and understand patterns of communication. Homework will consist of preparing ideas for discussion in class. Interaction among students will be emphasized and students will be encouraged to introduce topics of their own. Twice each semester, students will be asked to give a short presentation. Individual feedback will be given after each presentation.

「英語表現演習（Writing）」(5)(6)(7)(8)、「英語表現演習（Speaking）」(5)(6)(7)(8)、「英語表現演習（翻訳）」(1)(2)と「Academic Writing」の春学期秋学期科目合わせて22科目については、今年度から英文学科指定の「定員」数が設定され、かつ英文学科全体で「事前抽選」制度が導入されます。抽選が4月頭（初回授業日よりも前）に実施されるので、必ず期日内に申請し、「事前抽選結果」を確認してください。さらに、「事前抽選結果」発表時に掲示される、定員に空きのある科目を追加で履修希望する場合、春学期授業初回に担当教員による選抜がありうるので、必ず出席してください。
※ 「英語表現演習（総合）」に関しては、別途「事前登録」が実施されているので、受講希望者は期日内（4月頭）にそちらに申請をしてください。
