This is not a conversation class. The course is designed to give opportunities to express yourselves in English and to be engaged in an English speaking environment. We will aim at developing your confidence of telling your stories and presenting your ideas with a logical structure and communicating with others.

This is not a conversation class. The course is designed to give opportunities to express yourselves in English and to be engaged in an English speaking environment. We will aim at developing your confidence of telling your stories and presenting your ideas with a logical structure and communicating with others.
このクラスは英会話のクラスではありません。ミニスピーチ作成とプレゼンテーションを最終目標とし、インプットで表現力を増しながら、英語の論理的な文章の構成力を磨き、コミュニケーション能力を高めていきます。
注）英語表現演習(Speaking)(1)Bと併せて受講することが望ましい
到達目標Goal
Through pre-activity and input, you will be able to
-Improve and expand your vocabulary and useful expressions
Through output activities (practicing new expressions, writing out your speech and giving a mini-speech), you will be able to
-Activate and devlop existing English language skills
-Acquire a habit of thinking logically

-Pre-activity: Practice useful phrases in everyday conversations
-Input: Listening to a model case; understanding the context
-Output: Making your own short speech; practicing and memorizing; giving presentations
-A purpose of leaning language must be to communicate with other people, so active, positive and cooperative performance in all class activities from each student is fully expected
-Instructions will be given primarily in English
模範テキストを使用し、発音と重要な表現をインプットする。アウトプットでは、学んだ形式や表現を利用し自分のshort speechを作り発表することで、英語で自分を表現する力をつけていく。
フィードバックは、課題提出後に授業内又は「授業支援システム」を通じて行います。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
Model casesやpre-activityで習った表現は、声に出して復唱する復習を徹底し、小テストなどを通して自分のものにしていく。スピーチ作成に向け、アウトラインを作成することで話の流れを自分で明確にすることでDraftの校正に時間をかけれられるようにしましょう。
本授業の準備・復習時間は、合わせて4時間を標準とする。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
発表50％、平常点50％（小テストの結果、授業中の積極性、特にスピーチ作成の過程における努力を重視し、総合的に評価）
注意1：出席が7割未満の場合は原則として単位修得の資格を失う
注意2：このクラスで特に重要視するのは英語習得に対する「積極性」です。学んだ表現がすぐに使えないこともありますが、新しい表現をInputで確実に自分のものにして、vocabularyを豊富にしておく必要があります。またスピーチ作りでは、ただ与えられた長さの話が出来れば良いのではなく、一度書き出してみたスピーチが本当にロジカルで人に伝わるものなのか再検証して練り上げていく作業の努力を惜しまないことが「成長」する鍵となり、ここが評価のポイントでもあります。
学生の意見等からの気づきChanges following student comments
このクラスは、自分たちで作り上げ発展させていくことが出来ます。受講生は「ほかの人が考えていることが知れて面白かった」「グループワークで楽しかった」と感じるように、クラスメートから刺激を受けながら自分の考えを披露し英語で人を説得する方法を身につけています。
インプット段階では、表現を「正しく予測」することや「フレーズを意識して聞く」ことが出来たように、自分なりの「気付きを意識しながら取り組む姿勢を身につけられた」ようです。
アウトプットでは、「声に出すということがいかに大切で効率的であるかということが本当によくわかりました」という感想を持てているように、「フレーズの記憶がかなり長く残っていることを実感」し定着のコツを掴んでいます。それまでの「ただ何となく話す」ではなく「伝えようとする気持ちを忘れてはいけないと思った」とあるように、「相手」を忘れないコミュニケーションが意識できると語学は上達します。
この授業の時間を有効に活用できるかどうかは受講生の一人一人のやる気と姿勢にかかっています。

発表では自分のパソコンやタブレットを使用してスライドを見せるなどの工夫を推奨しています。
その他の重要事項Others
欠席した場合、その週に行った授業内容をクラスメートに確認しておくこと。適切な理由で欠席を余儀なくされる場合には必ず連絡を入れ（メールakiko.sugi4i@hosei.ac.jp）、次回授業に参加する際にその証拠を持参のうえ相談に来ること。
対面授業では、感染症予防対策として不織布のマスク着用を求めます。
《重要》
「英語表現演習（Writing）」(5)(6)(7)(8)、「英語表現演習（Speaking）」(5)(6)(7)(8)、「英語表現演習（翻訳）」(1)(2)と「Academic Writing」の春学期秋学期科目合わせて22科目については、英文学科指定の「定員」が設定されています。また、「事前抽選」を実施します。詳細はガイダンスおよび掲示で案内します。抽選が4月初頭（初回授業日よりも前）に実施されるので、必ず期日内に申請してください。基本的に、春学期と秋学期をセットで履修することになり、秋学期の科目も春学期に申請する必要があります。
「事前抽選結果」発表時には、定員に空きのある科目のリストも掲示します。それらの科目の履修を希望する場合は、必ず春学期の初回授業に出席してください。担当教員が選抜を行う場合があります。
※ 「英語表現演習（総合）」に関しては、別途「事前登録」が実施されるので、履修希望者は期日内（4月初頭）にそちらに申請をしてください。
※ 2年次クラス指定の「英語表現演習（Writing）」(1)(2)(3)、「英語表現演習（Speaking）」(1)(2)(3)に関しては、事前抽選および選抜はありません。
