Outline (in English)

This course introduces undergraduate students to various modes of writing in English. English writing is heterogeneous, and more varied than simply learning how to write academic essays. Students will participate in a weekly workshop including reading and writing "Narration," "Description," "Exposition," and "Argumentation." These activities will develop an awareness of "style," and also an awareness that the practice of writing is embedded in everyday life. The course aims to help students experience the pleasure of writing in addition to guiding them toward the improvement of their skills of analysis and critical thinking.
[Learning activities outside of classroom:] Before/after each class meeting, students are expected to spend 2 hours
respectively to understand the course content and to practice various types of English writing.
[Grading Criteria/Policies:] Overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: in-class contribution [positive participation] (70%),final report [paper] (30%).
