Outline (in English)

This course is designed for helping students learn how to write research papers for their undergraduate studies. The aim of this course is for students to equip themselves with basic knowledge and skills for research paper writing so they can select appropriate topics for their research, form and refine their ideas on the selected topics, and turn them into the form of research papers where their ideas are coherently organised and developed, as well as properly supported by their research. Under the supervision of the teacher students actively engage themselves in learning about different aspects of research paper writing and constantly generating output every week and, after peer review and editing sessions, produce a completed version of their work by the end of the term. Every week, during the session, students make concrete plans for improving their work in progress, making sure that they know what they need to do to prepare for the next week's session. Grading criteria: weekly preparation for and participation in in-class activities 40%, mid-term report 20%, and end-of-term paper 40%.
