Outline (in English)

In this seminar, we will observe and analyze the main similarities and differences between Japanese and Chinese as well as the characteristics of Chinese language from a linguistic point of view.

(Learning Objectives)
1. To master the basic concepts and knowledge of Chinese linguistics.
2. To grasp the main differences between Japanese and Chinese.
3. To improve presentation skills through presentation and discussion.

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before/after each class, students will be expected to spend 6 hours reviewing the course content.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following parts:
- presentation: 40%
- discussion: 20%
- term-end report: 40%
