Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course introduces the classical Japanese performing arts through stories and plays about Shunkan, a tragic figure of Heike monogatari (The Tale of the Heike).
Learning Objectives: The goal of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of the classical Japanese performing arts.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Students will be expected to go to see performances of Noh, Kyogen, Ningyō Jōruri, and Kabuki. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Grading will be decided based on reaction papers (70%), and a term-end report (30%).
