Outline (in English)
Course Outline: In this class, we learn how to read classical Chinese using familiar stories. We start with simple and short passages from famous books of the pre-Qin Dynasty, carefully reading them while touching on Chinese culture and stories, in order to cultivate basic skills in reading classical Chinese.
Learning Objectives: Students will learn the basic structures of classical Chinese and gain an understanding of the kundoku method for reading Chinese in literary Japanese. They will also deepen their knowledge of the history and culture of ancient China by reading famous works of literature, historical stories and episodes.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Students should prepare by examining the materials distributed in advance. Chinese-Japanese dictionaries and Chinese character dictionaries are necessary for preparation. The preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Grades will be based on the following: a general grade based on contents of regular reaction papers and short assignments (70%), and a final examination (30%). Attendance is assumed.

先秦時代の有名な書物や親しみのある故事成語の典拠などを用い、比較的短文のものやシンプルな構造のものから読み始めることで、漢文（古典中国語）の訓読法の基礎を学習する。当時の文化や習俗も合わせて学んでいく。

漢文の基礎構造を学び、訓読の手法を理解する。
有名な文献や故事成語の典拠、エピソードなどを読むことで、古代中国の歴史・文化に対する知識を深める。

講義形式で行う。訓点（句読点・返り点・送り仮名）を付した漢文資料をテキストとして配布し、文の構造を解説しながら精読する。読解に必要な時代背景や古代中国の文化に関する知識も、適時解説する。
毎回授業時にリアクションペーパーもしくは小課題を提出してもらい、学生の理解度や興味の方向性を確認し、補足が必要な部分や疑問点などは次の授業時に解説する。また、このリアクションペーパー（又は小課題）の提出と内容で平常点を決定する。
授業計画各回の「内容」にあるものは主として取り扱うものであり、適宜加える可能性がある。
Lecture format. Chinese materials with kunten (punctuation marks, kaeriten, okurigana) are distributed as texts and we read them carefully as I explain the structure of the sentences. I will also explain the historical background necessary for reading and knowledge of ancient Chinese culture in a timely manner.
In each class, you will submit a reaction paper or sub-assignment, which check the students’ understanding and interests, and I will explain the sections and questions that need to be supplemented in the next class. In addition, a general grade will be based on the reaction papers (or short assignments). The “contents” of each lesson plan may be added to as appropriate.

授業内容及び採点方法などの説明をする。また、先秦時代についての概要を学習する。
第2回[対面/face to face]：『論語』を読む
為政篇を中心に学ぶ。
第3回[対面/face to face]：『孟子』を読む
梁恵王上から「五十歩百歩」などの出典の部分などを読む。
第4回[対面/face to face]：『管子』を読む
牧民から「倉廩実ちて則ち礼節を知り、衣食足りて則ち栄辱を知る」の成語を学ぶ。
第5回[対面/face to face]：『荘子』を読む
『荘子』は寓意的な話の宝庫である。斉物論から「夢に胡蝶となる」の話を、応帝王から「混沌の死」を読み解く。
第6回[対面/face to face]：『淮南子』を読む
『淮南子』人間から「塞翁が馬」の故事を読む。
第7回[対面/face to face]：『春秋左氏伝』を読む
『春秋』と『春秋左氏伝』の違いについて解説し、「不及黄泉、無相見也」の故事を知る。
第8回[対面/face to face]：『史記』越世家を読む（１）
「臥薪嘗胆」の故事で有名な『史記』越世家を読む。
第9回[対面/face to face]：『史記』越世家を読む（２）
「呉越同舟」でも知られる呉と越が、どのような結末を迎えるかを知る。
第10回[対面/face to face]：『史記』廉頗藺相如列伝を読む（１）
当時の中国の歴史状況を解説しつつ、「完璧」の故事の部分を読む。
第11回[対面/face to face]：『史記』廉頗藺相如列伝を読む（２）
「完璧」の故事の部分を精読し、当時の秦と六国の関係性を理解する。
第12回[対面/face to face]：『史記』廉頗藺相如列伝を読む（３）
「完璧」の故事の部分の結末を読む。
第13回[対面/face to face]：復習と総括
改めて、漢文の基礎構造や初歩的な訓読方法を復習する。
第14回[対面/face to face]：試験・まとめと解説
授業で学んだ知識などが身についているか確認する。
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
事前に配られたテキストには必ず予習を行うこと。
予習には漢和辞典・漢字辞典が必須となる。
本授業の準備・復習時間は、各２時間を標準とする。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
毎回のリアクションペーパーもしくは小課題を主とする平常点を３０％、期末考査の点数を７０％として評価する。出席は大前提とする。

本授業は、漢文訓読を通じて行う。中国・台湾などからの留学生の方には難解な技法かと思うが、この点にご留意の上で受講を決めるようにしていただきたい。
１回ごときちんと理解ができるよう、授業はゆるやかなペースで行う。
This class is conducted through kundoku, or a method for reading ancient Chinese in literary Japanese. I think that it may be difficult for international students from China, Taiwan, etc., but please pay attention to this point before deciding to take the course. Classes are held at a gentle pace.

・できれば紙のものが望ましいが、アプリ等でも構わないので漢和辞典
・高校国語の副教本(便覧・要覧)
など。
・また、オンライン授業になった場合はHoppiiを使うので、使用できるような環境を整えておくこと。
・If possible, a paper dictionary is desirable, but it does not matter if it is an app, as long as it is a Chinese-Japanese dictionary.

その他の重要事項Others
対面授業の予定だが、オンライン(オンデマンド)になる可能性のあることを了解の上で登録すること。その場合はHoppiiを利用し、zoomなどは使わない予定である。
I'm planning a face-to-face class, but I'm going to register with the understanding that it might be online (on demand). In that case, I plan to use Hoppii rather than Zoom.
