Outline (in English)

Course Outline: Through the history of Japanese literature in the Meiji era, students learn about the generation of modern literature, relationships with society, literary consciousness and theory. The theme is to understand the historical significance and relationship with the present day while touching on the text of works as much as possible.
Learning Objectives: It is not just to gain knowledge, but also to allow students to think about the meaning and value of individual writers and works themselves.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Read the descriptions of various literary histories for the contents of each lecture in advance. Also read as many works as you can that are dealt with in class. The standard preparation and review time for class is two hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy: I will evaluate final grades with 70% based on reaction papers submitted after class, and 30% based on an end-of-semester report.
