Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course is a general introduction to linguistics, the study of human language. The aim of this class is to help students learn the methodology of linguistics and related fields, such as the areas of approaches to language as a sign system (general linguistics), the study of the historical relationships of languages (comparative linguistics), anthropology of language (ethnolinguistics), psychology of language (psycholinguistics), and sociology of language (sociolinguistics).
Learning Objectives: The goals of this course are to introduce students to different perspectives on language issues.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: short reports (70%); term-end report (30%). (You will not pass this course without submitting each report.)
